People in Selangor, Putrajaya and Wilayah Persekutuan are invited to accompany Selangor Menteri Besar and leaders of the People to submit a memorandum to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to protest water rate increase by the Selangor Water Supply Company (SYABAS) on December 5, the report TVSelangor.

Exco Selangor, Dr Halimah Ali in a dialogue on issues of water with great teachers across NSW today called on the people of NSW to stand together to fight the state government led by defending their rights.

"The state government invited people to express their democratic right to not understand, understand.

"So we are all invited, together with the Menteri Besar (Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim) at 12 noon at the National Mosque, the way our crowd, our prayers," he said.

About 25 thousand residents of Section 24, Shah Alam are expected to sign the memorandum to be submitted to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to protest water rate increase by 37 percent by SYABAS deemed to burden the people in this country.

At the dialogue session yesterday, Halimah cautioned that the state government has a clear goal to help the people of Selangor, Federal Territory of Putrajaya to defend their rights.

He said the state government every effort to negotiate with the water concessionaires in Selangor in ensuring that citizens enjoy the basic necessities that the price accordingly.


"The state is not interested in politics on the issue of water, are not interested in spending time on the basics.

"The state government is keen to profit from this water, but the state government keen to provide free water to people in the state is getting clean water to its people healthy and strong," he said.

NSW Government earlier confirmed the license granted to the water supply SYABAS will be withdrawn if found to collect back the cost of 20 cubic meters of water is subsidized through the state government to the people who Budi Fund launched in August.
